Quick answer

How do I sell pallets in Sydney?

Answer four questions, the type, the condition, the count and the postcode, and the band is on the screen. Three photos of a typical pallet turn it into a firm written offer, then a pickup window is booked around your site. Sixty or more reusable pallets anywhere in Greater Sydney is a free pickup; smaller or mixed lots are quoted as a clearance first, and repairable pallets are credited as cores.

The Sydney rule

When is a pallet pickup free in Sydney?

Sixty or more reusable pallets in Greater Sydney is a free collection, because the pallets themselves pay for the vehicle. Below that number, or on a mixed or damaged lot, the pallets do not cover the run, so it is quoted as a clearance and you see the figure before anything is booked. The yard is at Prestons, which is why Sydney is the shortest run we do and the fastest turnaround.

Grade and count are confirmed at pickup against the photos you sent. The price per pallet in the offer stands as long as the lot matches them, and any difference is explained on the spot rather than discovered on the remittance.

 • Standard 1165, hardwood or softwood, 1 tonne and 2 tonne
 • Euro 1200 x 800, export 1100 x 1100 and 1200 x 1000, half and display pallets
 • Plastic pallets, nestable, rackable and hygienic
 • Heavy duty 2 tonne stock, new or used
 • Repairable cores, credited against a clearance

How it works in Sydney

How do I sell my pallets in Sydney? Four steps, no site visit.

Photos do the grading. A wasted site visit costs you a morning and costs us a vehicle, so we quote from what you send and confirm it on the day.

 1. 01Send photos, a count and the suburbTop, bottom and one side of a typical pallet, the rough count, the Sydney suburb and when it needs to go.
 2. 02Offer in writingPrice per pallet, the grade we expect, what is a sale and what is a clearance, and the collection date. Ask before 2pm on a business day and the price comes back the same day. After 2pm it goes out first thing the next business day.
 3. 03Collection booked from PrestonsA pickup window that suits the site. Tell us the largest vehicle that fits, forklift or hand load, and the gate hours.
 4. 04Counted and settledThe lot is graded and counted at pickup against the photos. Payment terms are set out in the offer.

Which suburbs around Sydney do we buy and collect pallets from?

Pallets build up where goods are received and broken down, so these are the areas the regular runs go through. The list is where the volume is, not a limit: anywhere in Greater Sydney, Wollongong and the Central Coast is quoted on the same basis, and the figure already allows for the distance back to Prestons.

 • Wetherill Park
 • Smithfield
 • Yennora
 • Ingleburn
 • Moorebank
 • Prestons
 • Eastern Creek
 • Erskine Park
 • Silverwater
 • Seven Hills

Not on the list? Send the suburb with the photos and the count. The answer comes back the same business day either way.

Regular surplus in Sydney

Turn the empties into a standing arrangement.

Sites in Sydney that generate pallets every week get a standing rate, a regular pickup day and one number to call. Importers, distribution centres, manufacturers and retailers are the usual cases, and most of them are paying someone to take pallets away today.

Questions Sydney sellers ask

What do you pay for pallets in Sydney?

Sorted A grade pallets earn $3 each ex GST and B grade $2, any type, subject to inspection. Euro, export, plastic and heavy duty stock is quoted per lot once we have seen photos, because the value moves with grade and with demand at the time.

Is the collection free in Sydney?

Sixty or more reusable pallets in Greater Sydney is a free collection, because the pallets themselves pay for the vehicle. Below that number, or on a mixed or damaged lot, the pallets do not cover the run, so it is quoted as a clearance and you see the figure before anything is booked. The yard is at Prestons, which is why Sydney is the shortest run we do and the fastest turnaround.

Which Sydney suburbs do you cover?

We buy and collect across Greater Sydney, Wollongong and the Central Coast. Pickups run through the industrial areas where pallets actually build up, which here means Wetherill Park, Smithfield, Yennora, Ingleburn, Moorebank, Prestons, Eastern Creek, Erskine Park, Silverwater and Seven Hills, and anywhere else in the region is quoted on the same basis.

Do you buy CHEP or Loscam pallets?

No. Pooled pallets belong to the pool and we neither buy nor sell them. Tell the pool to collect its own and we will take everything else on the same pickup.

What if the pallets are broken?

Broken timber, odd sizes and unknown mixed lots are a clearance rather than a sale. The cost is quoted up front and any repairable cores in the lot are credited against it, so a bad lot is usually cheaper to clear than it first looks.

How fast do I get an offer?

Ask before 2pm on a business day and the price comes back the same day. After 2pm it goes out first thing the next business day. Photograph the pile side on, one photo per stack, and the price per pallet and the collection date come back in about a minute. No count needed, the scan does that.

What does a typical Sydney lot look like?

Sydney generates more surplus pallets than anywhere else in the country, and most of it starts at Port Botany. Containers unpack into the western distribution belt, the timber stays, and the pallets pile up at the back of the dock. Import warehousing, contract logistics sites and grocery distribution centres are the three places we see the biggest standing lots.

Where do the pallets go after you collect them?

Everything lands at Prestons, gets graded, and goes straight back out to Sydney buyers. The round trip is short, which is why this is the only market where a sixty pallet lot pays for its own pickup.

What grades do you buy?

New, Grade A, Grade B, Grade C and repairable cores. The definitions are the same ones we quote on when you buy from us, and they are set out on the pallet grading standard. Ask for the grade in writing on anything we buy or sell.
