Quick answer
When is a pallet pickup free in Sydney?
Sixty or more reusable pallets anywhere in Greater Sydney is a free pickup, booked around your site's hours. Under that, smaller, mixed or damaged lots are quoted as a clearance before anything is booked, repairable pallets are credited as cores and reusable stock is bought. Send a photo of the stack, a count and the suburb and you get the split in writing: what is a sale, what is a free collection and what is a clearance.
What gets collected in Sydney
What is the difference between pallet collection, pickup, removal and disposal?
Reusable pallets, repairable cores, broken timber, odd sizes and plastic all go on the same pickup. We grade on the day against the photos you sent, so the split between sale, free collection and clearance is agreed before the vehicle leaves Prestons.
- Reusable standard 1165, Euro, export and half pallets, bought where they qualify
- Damaged but repairable pallets, credited as cores
- Broken timber and unknown mixed lots, cleared at a quoted price
- Plastic pallets, crates and bins
- One off clean outs after a container unpack, a stocktake or a site move
Where Sydney pallets come from
What is the pallet market like in Sydney?
Sydney generates more surplus pallets than anywhere else in the country, and most of it starts at Port Botany. Containers unpack into the western distribution belt, the timber stays, and the pallets pile up at the back of the dock. Import warehousing, contract logistics sites and grocery distribution centres are the three places we see the biggest standing lots.
Everything lands at Prestons, gets graded, and goes straight back out to Sydney buyers. The round trip is short, which is why this is the only market where a sixty pallet lot pays for its own pickup.
How it works in Sydney
When is a pallet pickup free in Sydney?
You should never find out what a clearance costs after the pallets have gone. The cost, or the payment, is in writing before the booking.
- 01Send photos, a count and the suburbTop, bottom and side of a typical pallet, a rough count, the largest vehicle that fits and the gate hours.
- 02Written answer the same business dayWhat we buy, what we collect free, what we clear and at what price. Ask before 2pm on a business day and the price comes back the same day. After 2pm it goes out first thing the next business day.
- 03Pickup window bookedA day and a window that suits the site. Forklift on site or hand load, both are fine, just tell us which.
- 04Graded on the dayCounted and graded at pickup against the photos. Any difference is explained on the spot.
Which suburbs around Sydney do we collect pallets from?
Pallets build up where goods are received and broken down, so these are the areas the regular runs go through. The list is where the volume is, not a limit: anywhere in Greater Sydney, Wollongong and the Central Coast is quoted on the same basis, and the figure already allows for the distance back to Prestons.
- Wetherill Park
- Smithfield
- Yennora
- Ingleburn
- Moorebank
- Prestons
- Eastern Creek
- Erskine Park
- Silverwater
- Seven Hills
Not on the list? Send the suburb with the photos and the count. The answer comes back the same business day either way.
The rule in Sydney
When is a pallet pickup free in Sydney?
Sixty or more reusable pallets in Greater Sydney is a free collection, because the pallets themselves pay for the vehicle. Below that number, or on a mixed or damaged lot, the pallets do not cover the run, so it is quoted as a clearance and you see the figure before anything is booked. The yard is at Prestons, which is why Sydney is the shortest run we do and the fastest turnaround.
Questions Sydney sites ask
Is pallet collection free in Sydney?

Where in Sydney do you collect?
Across Greater Sydney, Wollongong and the Central Coast, with the regular runs going through Wetherill Park, Smithfield, Yennora, Ingleburn, Moorebank, Prestons, Eastern Creek, Erskine Park, Silverwater and Seven Hills because that is where pallets build up fastest. Sites outside those areas are collected too and are quoted on the same basis.
Will you take broken pallets?
Yes. Broken timber and unknown mixed lots are cleared at a quoted price, and repairable cores in the lot are credited against that price.
Do you collect CHEP or Loscam pallets?
No. Pooled pallets go back to the pool and the pool collects its own. We take everything that is not pooled, on the same pickup.
How much notice do you need?
Tell us when it needs to be gone in the enquiry. Ask before 2pm on a business day and the price comes back the same day. After 2pm it goes out first thing the next business day. The collection date is confirmed in the same message, not days later.
Can it be a regular pickup?
Yes. Weekly, fortnightly or monthly pickups run to a set day with one number to call. Sites generating reusable pallets every week usually end up being paid for them rather than paying to have them taken.
