Pallet questions

The pallet questions we get asked, answered in one place.

Minimums, GST, delivery areas, forklifts and tailgates, what happens when a pallet is not the grade on the docket, export stamps and what we do with the pallets we will not buy. Every answer here matches the service page it comes from and the facts page.

Quick answer

What do I need to know before I order pallets?

Six things get the quote right first time: the type, the grade, the count, the suburb, whether the dock has a forklift and whether the pallets go into racking. Published from-prices are for lots of 50 or more delivered across Greater Sydney, prices are ex GST with terms on the quote, delivery runs NSW first from Prestons and Bennetts Green, and the grade on the docket is checked at your dock while the truck is there.

Before you order

What do I need to know before I order pallets?

Six things on the enquiry and the quote comes back right first time: the type (standard 1165, Euro, export, plastic, heavy duty, half or custom), the grade (new, A, B, C), the count, the suburb, whether there is a forklift at the dock, and whether the pallets go into racking. Published from-prices for the standard grades are on the prices page; the grades are defined on the grades page; which pallets are safe on beams is on the racking page.

Getting a number

Everything else is a quote away.

Type, grade, count, suburb, forklift, racking. Say those six and the quote comes back with the grade and count in writing, priced the same business day when you ask before 2pm.

The questions

Is there a minimum order?

The published from-prices on the prices page are for lots of 50 or more, delivered across Greater Sydney. Smaller lots are quoted, and small counts often ride on a delivery already heading your way. Standing orders are priced on the monthly volume rather than the drop size. Get a price.

Are prices ex GST, and what are the terms?

Prices are quoted ex GST and the invoice shows GST as its own line. Payment terms are written on the quote, so there is nothing to find out afterwards. Published from-prices.

Where do you deliver?

NSW first: Greater Sydney from the yard at Prestons, Wollongong, Shellharbour and down to Nowra, the Central Coast, and Newcastle and the Hunter from Bennetts Green. Melbourne and Brisbane are quoted per job. Every area has its own page on the areas page.

What if the dock has no forklift?

Say so when you order or book a collection. A truck with a tailgate and a hand unload is priced up front rather than appearing on the invoice afterwards. A forklift at both ends is the cheapest way to move pallets. The vehicles shows which trucks carry a tailgate.

What if a pallet arrives below the grade on the docket?

Flag it at the dock while the truck is there. The docket carries the type, grade and count from the quote, so the check is a minute at receipt rather than an argument later. The grades, defined.

Can I return or exchange pallets I no longer need?

Sound pallets you no longer need are bought back on the normal collection rules: sixty or more reusable pallets anywhere in Greater Sydney is a free pickup, smaller lots are quoted in writing first, and repairable cores are credited. The rule with examples.

What documentation comes with export pallets?

The IPPC mark stamped on the pallet is the ISPM 15 evidence quarantine looks for at the other end: the country code, the treatment provider's number and HT for heat treatment. Say the destination when you order; some importers also ask for the treatment provider's certificate, and we tell you what is available for the stock supplied. Export pallets.

What do you do with the pallets you will not buy?

Repairable cores are repaired and go back into service, credited against your clearance. What cannot be repaired is broken down: sound lengths kept for repairs, the rest chipped for mulch, bedding or particleboard feedstock. Treated or contaminated timber is disposed of properly, and that is the only line with a straight cost. You get the count and the split for your own reporting. What happens to pallets.

Can I pick up from the yard?

Yes, from Prestons, 7am to 5pm weekdays, booked ahead so the stack is counted, graded and ready when you arrive. Book a pickup.

How quickly can you deliver?

A quote asked for before 2pm is answered the same business day, with the delivery date on it. The date is set against your receiving window and the vehicle that fits the dock; we do not publish a delivery time we have not committed to on your order.

Do you supply CHEP or Loscam pallets?

No. Pooled pallets belong to the pool. We supply new and used pallets you own outright, and we do not buy, collect or sell pooled equipment. Hire versus buying sets out when each one wins.

Do you take plastic pallets?

Yes, supplied new and used, and bought back on the same pickup as timber: sound ones resold, cracked ones to plastics reprocessing. Say whether they are nestable or rackable. Plastic or timber.

Can I send a photo instead of filling in the form?

Yes. Text a photo of the stack and a count to Jayden on 0494 820 639, or use the form on what are my pallets worth, which puts a figure on the screen from four questions.
