What should I check before ordering custom and specialty pallets?
- Send a drawing or the length, width, load, entry (2 way or 4 way) and deck type (open or closed); that is enough to quote
- Long loads need bearers running the length and a closed deck under point loads
- Decide early whether the pallet is one way or returning; it changes timber and build
Price it
Send the length, width, load, entry and deck type, or a photo of the product.
Ask before 2pm on a business day and the price comes back the same day. After 2pm it goes out first thing the next business day.
Questions about custom and specialty pallets
What do you need to quote a custom pallet?
Length, width, the load and how it sits on the deck, entry (2 way or 4 way), deck type and whether it needs ISPM 15 treatment. A photo of the product helps. The quote comes back with a drawing.
What is a skid?
A pallet with bearers and a top deck but no bottom boards. Lighter and less timber in it, usually for machinery or crate bases, and not for racking.
Can custom pallets be heat treated for export?
Yes. Specify export at the time of order so the timber is treated before assembly and the pallet carries the ISPM 15 mark.
How many custom pallets do I need to order?
Say the number you want and the quote comes back on that number; a one-off run is priced differently to a repeating order, and the quote says which it is. A drawing or the length, width, load and entry is enough to start.
Can custom pallets be collected after use?
Custom sizes are counted in their own stack and priced in the written offer, because the resale depends on who else can use that size. Where they are coming back to you rather than being sold, the return leg is quoted as freight.
