Pallet collection Melbourne

Pallet collection in Melbourne. Reusable stock bought, the rest cleared at a quoted price.

One enquiry covers all of it. We tell you in writing what is a sale, what the pickup costs and what is a clearance, netted off into one figure, then book a pickup window around the site rather than around our run sheet.

Or call Jayden on 0494 820 639, 7am to 5pm weekdays.

What gets collected in Melbourne

What is the difference between pallet collection, pickup, removal and disposal?

Reusable pallets, repairable cores, broken timber, odd sizes and plastic all go on the same pickup. We grade on the day against the photos you sent, so the split between sale, priced pickup and clearance is agreed before the vehicle leaves South Dandenong.

  • Reusable standard 1165, Euro, export and half pallets, bought where they qualify
  • Damaged but repairable pallets, credited as cores
  • Broken timber and unknown mixed lots, cleared at a quoted price
  • Plastic pallets, crates and bins
  • One off clean outs after a container unpack, a stocktake or a site move

Where Melbourne pallets come from

What is the pallet market like in Melbourne?

Melbourne runs on food and beverage manufacturing alongside the largest container port in the country, so its surplus pallets skew heavier and dirtier than Sydney's. Food grade sites tend to turn pallets over faster and reject them sooner, which means more repairable cores and more clean standard stock going out of service early.

360 runs its own freight rather than handing the leg to a carrier, so a lot collected here can move on a vehicle that is already running the corridor. That is the difference between a collection that has to pay for a dedicated truck and one that rides on a leg already paid for, and it is the reason a quoted clearance here is usually cheaper than a local operator can do it.

How it works in Melbourne

Pickup priced in the written offer

You should never find out what a clearance costs after the pallets have gone. The cost, or the payment, is in writing before the booking.

  1. 01Send photos, a count and the suburbTop, bottom and side of a typical pallet, a rough count, the largest vehicle that fits and the gate hours.
  2. 02Written answer the same business dayWhat we buy, what the pickup costs, what we clear and at what price, in one figure. Ask before 2pm on a business day and the price comes back the same day. After 2pm it goes out first thing the next business day.
  3. 03Pickup window bookedA day and a window that suits the site. Forklift on site or hand load, both are fine, just tell us which.
  4. 04Graded on the dayCounted and graded at pickup against the photos. Any difference is explained on the spot.

Which suburbs around Melbourne do we collect pallets from?

Pallets build up where goods are received and broken down, so these are the areas the regular runs go through. The list is where the volume is, not a limit: anywhere in Melbourne and Geelong is quoted on the same basis, and the figure already allows for the distance back to South Dandenong.

  • Dandenong South
  • Laverton North
  • Truganina
  • Derrimut
  • Campbellfield
  • Somerton
  • Keysborough
  • Braeside
  • Altona North
  • Hallam

Not on the list? Send the suburb with the photos and the count. The answer comes back the same business day either way.

The rule in Melbourne

Pickup priced in the written offer

Collections in Melbourne are priced in the offer rather than free, and the reason is distance. The closer a site is to South Dandenong the less the run costs, so a lot that would be a free pickup in Greater Sydney is quoted here. You get one figure covering the pallets and the pickup, netted off, so you can see whether the lot pays for its own collection before you agree to anything.

Questions Melbourne sites ask

Is pallet collection free in Melbourne?

Collections in Melbourne are priced in the offer rather than free, and the reason is distance. The closer a site is to South Dandenong the less the run costs, so a lot that would be a free pickup in Greater Sydney is quoted here. You get one figure covering the pallets and the pickup, netted off, so you can see whether the lot pays for its own collection before you agree to anything.

Where in Melbourne do you collect?

Across Melbourne and Geelong, with the regular runs going through Dandenong South, Laverton North, Truganina, Derrimut, Campbellfield, Somerton, Keysborough, Braeside, Altona North and Hallam because that is where pallets build up fastest. Sites outside those areas are collected too and are quoted on the same basis.

Will you take broken pallets?

Yes. Broken timber and unknown mixed lots are cleared at a quoted price, and repairable cores in the lot are credited against that price.

Do you collect CHEP or Loscam pallets?

No. Pooled pallets go back to the pool and the pool collects its own. We take everything that is not pooled, on the same pickup.

How much notice do you need?

Tell us when it needs to be gone in the enquiry. Ask before 2pm on a business day and the price comes back the same day. After 2pm it goes out first thing the next business day. The collection date is confirmed in the same message, not days later.

Can it be a regular pickup?

Yes. Weekly, fortnightly or monthly pickups run to a set day with one number to call. Sites generating reusable pallets every week usually end up being paid for them rather than paying to have them taken.
